hello: whats the turn around on getting a 5.6 to raise the come on temp. for fans. I do believe I want to run a 180 stat. for the future.

It takes about a week. You don't necessarily need to change the fan temp though.

hello: my recent plan is to use a 180 degree stat. year round. Some 5.6 reprogramming is needed correct? How much would that cost?

It's $85 to reprogram. But you do not necessarily need to change the chip. Your chip will automatically de-tune itself a little bit for the higher coolant temp, by reducing spark advance, since it will want to knock more easily.
Changing the fan temp is up to you. I like to keep it running to move hot air out of the engine compartment.

hello : I want to try a 180 stat as I said but do you suggest a reprogram? Also do you need a tool to take the chip out of the ECU? thanks

hi: like I said I've never messed with the chip in my car. So I don't have to worry about anything just grab it and pull it out? You don't sell the 5.6 any more? Could you tell me more about it. I'm at work and I should have the info. at home. Things like temps the fans come on and stuff like that.
thanks sorry to be a pain

Can you give me your chip#, or order#. I can look it up.

When removing the chip, be careful pulling it out. It pulls straight up, but you might want to rock it slightly.

The 5.7 replaced the 5.6, but the change was mainly for the adjustable features in the powerlogger.

hi: I have not pull the chip but my records show it's a TT01-42S and it was installed in 2010 by a shop in Agawam Mass. Cottons performance. That number is probably your stock number but it's something for now.

That chip is basic street chip, about 18* WOT timing, 16-18psi boost depending on knock. The fan would be set for 166*.

hello thanks for the response. In the colder months my coolant temp. is cooler than I want (I forget what it was) and because of it the heat isn't all that great. Any suggestions? I don't race my car street only.

Its possible your thermostat is not closing all the way, if it's running too cold. Is it dropping below 160* by very much?

hello: It's not below 160 by much..I'm going to change some hoses , control valve, coolant when the weathers better and maybe the stat. I'm leaning to a 180 stat. What do you think?

If it's getting to 160*, the heat should be good. However, if something else isn't operating efficiently, then a 180* stat could help.

hello: I'm back and I did put in the 180 stat. We.ll see how it goes. Also put in a set of dual fans sold by a private co. who does not do it anymore. Would U know if when the fans come on should both be on or is a higher temp. needed to have both on.
thanks

Normally the dual fans come on at the same time, but I don't know the details of your exact fan setup.
