Putting Scanmaster back together

I pulled my Scanmaster apart to remove the 2.2 chip, because I am selling it to someone who does not have a PL and will need to purchase the 2.1 Chip and now I can remember the orientation when putting back together. Are the chips facing the bottom or top of the Scanmaster?

Here is a pic, if you're asking about the chip orientation.

For the case itself, the screw heads are on the bottom.
Thanks Eric, it was the case I was asking about. I had the top and bottom of the case figured out, I was just which way the board went when putting it back together. Does the side of the board with chips face the top of the case or the bottom of the case?

Is yours a red display? It may be different between the blue and red ones. I looked at a blue one.

chips face down on all scanmasters. :)
Thank you turbobob. I took mine apart and didn't pay attention and when I went to put it back together I was bit puzzled. I am not sure how old the ScanMaster is that I am selling, it was in the car when I bought it in 2008. I have never had any issues with it though. Back in 2010 when I purchased the PL setup, I contacted you and then sent my SM to you and it came back with the updated 2.2 chip. It was free of charge, other than the shipping. If memory serves I believe you covered the shipping charges when you returned it to me. ;):):p

The PL kit did come with a chip that was supposed to be a 2.2 chip, you didn't use it though. I have it setting right here in front of me, hoping you can maybe identify it based the PN printed on the chip.

Look like the manufacturer of the chip was NXP.

Any ideas?

your scanmaster would have been an early "small chip" unit, so the 2.2 chip you received with your PL would not fit.

I removed the small chip and socket, installed a large socket and resistor network, and installed your 2.2 chip.

the 2.1 chip that was in it was the "small' chip. so it could not be reinstalled and there would be no reason to send it back.
