Open loop idle AFR

New to the syclones and I haven't set up TunerPro to capture any logs yet. Chip has 93 octane and Alc loaded, I'm on the alc program.

I have the dip switches set to On On Off On with AEM WB and 60lb injectors/3 bar MAF, the rotary switch for idle is at 4 clicks clockwise from 8. My issue is AFR drifts from 13-13.5 to 16-17. I'm stumped why there is any variation with the chip set to open loop idle??

Should I return the rotary switch back to 8 and go closed loop idle?

Edit: Returned rotary idle switch to 8 and set up closed loop idle. AFR hovers around 14.7 and BLM is 136. I preferred the open loop idle around 13.5, was smoother. Base FP is set to 42 psi.

Tried to get TunerPro RT set up, used the ADX at the top of the forum (ADXverlosytyBlack.adx), connected laptop through bluetooth (it will pair), but after setting up the Preferences as per the instruction, at the bottom of the screen it flashes back and forth between DA:Connected and DA: Data Error, and the Error count increments up. Also in the bottom left corner it say Not Emulating, then Hardware Not Found.

So I tried to ALDLDroid set up with the same adx, I go to connect and it hangs at Connecting for a few seconds, the switches to Disconnected?? I can get ALDLDroid to work in the Buick so I'm not sure what's going on.

You may be forced into closed loop idle. Everything has to be just right for open loop to be stable. IAC plays a role in idle fueling, so make sure that is working right, usually around 30 in park, warmed up. If you have a vacuum leak, the IAC might drop down, which will make it go lean. Also could be a wideband issue (if it's still idling good).

I can rarely get Tunerpro to work these days, with windows 10 and bluetooth. It takes a bit a experimenting with different settings.

I don't have a definition file specifically for aldldroid without the scanmaster G.

Sometimes the ground wire at the aldl plug is not good. On my truck, I had to run a new wire from the plug, over to the ECM. I attached it to one of the ECM screws, although I'm sure you could attach to one of the ECM ground wires.

There currently isn't any really good logging software for Syty. My favorite was datamaster, but they discontinued it.

I do have scanmaster G and I used the adx mentioned above to pair with aldldroid, but it wouldn't connect. IAC is around 22, and manual vacuum gauge is at 19+, MAP 37 ish. I'll revisit the grounds for the WB. You can definitely notice the change in idle quality when it starts to drift over 15.5 AFR.

I'll try to smoke the intake to see if there are any vacuum leaks. I do have one at the vacuum selector valve in the hvac controls, but I'm working on that. I don't hear a hissing sound with the switch set to off, and that's where I set it when adjusting the rotary idle knob.

If I keep closed loop idle, can I still use the rotary switch to richen the idle? Or do I need to "bottom" out the blm before it has any effect? I have my powerlogger laptop that runs on Windows Vista so I'll try that with TunerPro.

You might try to increase the IAC to about 30-35 to see if it helps.

You are correct on closed loop idle. It will always target 14.7, so you would have to hit the BLM limit to actually change the AFR.
