New ECU with no connection to laptop

I have ecu 196 and it does not connect to the laptop when plugged in. I can see "FT232R USB UART" show up in the device manager under other devices when I plug in and un plug the USB. It also has a yellow triangle next to it. Am I missing drivers somewhere?

Most newer laptops have the drivers built in to Windows. However, if yours doesn't, there is a driver install program on the USB flash drive that comes with the ECU.

It's called "USB drivers CDM21228_Setup", or something close to that. Install that, restart your laptop, and try again.

Ok so I ran that and the only thing that changed was in the device manager. It now shows up as a USB com. Under ports. Still no connection. This is how it sits with the key off. When I turn the key on it cycles the fuel pump light and the inj. Lights go off.

You should not have those injector LED's on like that (or the power light), only when cranking and running. You have something backfeeding voltage into the ECU. In the past, I've seen this with aftermarket dashes that use LED's in place of the bulbs.

Just to clarify, the power light should only be on with key on. The injector lights should only come on when cranking and running.
