Axis chip

Hey Eric, thanks for all your help first of all. You are helping to make these add-ons a lot of fun.
I have a few things to note and some questions about my 84 hot-air set-up.

1- Am I able to do any tuning in the tune window of the PL with the Axis chip?

2- I adjusted the TPS using the SM-G, to the recommended settings .42-.46, now the car wants to stay in gear when slowing down which causes some stumbling nearly stalling. should I bring the setting up a bit?
I adjusted the shift cable but noticed it a couple more times after that. It doesn't seem to know what gear to in sometimes.

3-It seems to run a bit rough and kind of stumbles a bit on acceleration. I'm still learning to tune, making only one or two adjustments at a time.

4- how long of a drive should I take it on between adjustments?

No, the Axis chip tuning is done all inside the Axis box.

It's not possible for the TPS adjustment to affect gears. The computer does not have any connection to the transmission gear selection. There must be something else going on there.

Make sure the Axis is set up for your MAF and chip, and the MAF itself is installed the correct direction. Which MAF are you using?

Once the car is warmed up, you can drive around and watch the BLM's to see if they are staying around 128 +/-10 or less. It doesn't take very long for the learning to happen once warmed up.

Ok, downshifting smartened up..not sure what that was all about.
The Axis is set up perfectly, the MAF is correctly installed(orientation is correct), so is the chip. I'm using the Delphi LT1 MAF I got from you. The settings are correct as far as the directions go.
I am learning how to tune though, reading as much as I can, and asking a lot of questions.
I'd like to send you one of the last logs I saved. I am getting 6.2deg knock at these settings at 3180rpm, 15.9deg adv, 94octane, 815 o2, BLM 128, 3.03TPS. As you can see I'm trying to add fuel to compensate for lean mix lol..
Is this normal to go that rich?
What would you recommend I do next?

It likely doesn't need to be that rich.
We need to see what the boost is doing. You'll likely want to connect a MAP sensor to the powerlogger to log boost. Otherwise, try to keep an eye on your boost gauge to see what you have.
Attach a powerlogger log if you can.

here is the last log Eric. I don't think I was even hitting 10psi, I do have the light ADj wastegate from Kirbans on it, however I haven't even come close to the PSI that it changes. I have autolite 24's in there too. I will pull and inspect.

Eric, how do I connect my MAP to the PL?
Which wire is it? On the diagram you provided on another post I cannot find ‘MAP’ or ‘Manifold Absolute Pressure’. Is it a different circuit id?

On the map sensor, the center wire, is the signal wire. You'll need to tap into that and connect it to the powerlogger's input module terminal 2.

In your log, I don't see any reason it would be knocking from a tune issue. Fuel and spark look ok. It could be too much boost, or it could be false knock.

Your BLM's are on the low side, likely because you have the MAF low turned up and you have MAF base richened. (that's not part of your knock issue)

OK, got it connected, this is the log from the drive home. I didn't want to push it too much, it feels like it's running a bit rough. I'm going to check the plugs tonight.

I see the BLM's came back up, did you change something in the Axis box?
Probably needs a little more learn time, but overall looks ok.
IAC reading is too high though, I would adjust that.
Still a little rich when getting into boost, but I wouldn't change anything for that at the moment.

I leaned back to 4%. Unplugged and started over. I have developed an oil leak on the left Valve cover and it’s causing a miss. Oil was pooling in the recess of #6. Rockn’ August
Is this week in Edmonton so I’m gonna have to be somewhat satisfied for now, I’ve replaced the factory waste-gate adjuster (only get 10#) boo..
It’s safe at least. I’ll be back at it next week.

For reference and follow up-
Just for a follow up on this and to close it off, I removed the RJC boost controller I had on at the time and this changed things dramatically. since removing it things worked way better and were much more predictable. As far as changes I had made since then was a thorough go though of all grounds, etc. MAP connection should be direct with as few of tees as possible. after that it was much better.
