MAF readings with Axis Chip

Is there any significance to the idle AF reading on a scanmaster with a 3.5" LS1 aluminum MAF? I know a stock MAF will typically read 4-6gps at idle but years ago when I made the switch to an GM LS1 aluminum MAF my readings have always been 03gps at idle and I've never had a MAF related problem that I was aware of so I never gave it much thought.

Fast forward to a couple months ago after installing a new motor and reinstalling the same LS1 MAF, my AF readings were now varying between 02 - 03gps (mostly staying at 02) at idle and the car was cutting out under hard acceleration (I was not able to verify if I was able to hit 255 because I had other issues preventing me from getting into too much boost). I bought another used GM LS1 aluminum MAF and that seemed to solve the cutting out issue and the car seems to idle better but my AF readings are 03gps at idle most times (like it was before) but will dip to 02gps briefly at times. Are these idle readings normal with the AXiS chip? Or is it plausible something could be wrong with this latest LS1 MAF I got despite the driveablity improvements I have seen thus far?

Yes, since this setup reads to 512 gr/sec, the AF numbers are cut in half on the Scanmaster. So 3 is actually 6.

Got it! So it's sort of like an Extender chip that can measure MAF readings beyond 255. Thank you for that confirmation!
